The Tibetan Book of Yoga is a short, easy to follow instruction book that teaches a unique method of practicing yoga, called "Tibetan Heart Yoga". When you practice Heart Yoga, you use more than just your body. You also work from the inside: using your mind, your heart, your thoughts and your breath. This results in a strong and flexible body, and a happy and healthy heart. It is simple and profound, and anyone can do it--no matter what age or physical condition and no matter what spiritual tradition one follows.

What you may not realize is that this ancient book also contains all the secrets you need to know in order to heal both your body and your heart; to overcome any kind of illness or unhappiness, and reach a place of splendid health, strength, and peace.
The secrets of how yoga really works to make us truly whole are revealed here in a delightful story based on how these precious teachings reached Tibet from their home in India, over a thousand years ago.
The authors have spent many years in Tibetan monasteries, trained by some of the last great Lamas of Old Tibet, to read and practice the original ancient manuscripts about how yoga works.
The Essential Yoga Sutra by Geshe Michael Roach & Christie McNally
The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali is a classic Sanskrit treatise consisting of 195 "threads," or aphorisms, describing the process of liberation through yoga. Although little is known about Patanjali (most scholars estimate that he lived in India circa 200-300 b.c.), his writings have long been recognized as a vital contribution to the philosophy and practice of yoga. This new, expert translation of the original Sanskrit text of Patanjali's best-known work presents his seminal ideas and methods in accessible, plain-language English. Patanjali organized the sutra into four parts: Samadhi (absorption), Sadhana (practice), Vibhuti (supernatural powers), and Kaivalya (liberation). Each represents a step in breaking free of our limited definition of consciousness and training the mind to achieve oneness with the universe. Geshe Michael Roach, one of the most respected teachers of Tibetan Buddhism in America and a renowned scholar of Sanskrit, provides authoritative commentary on each of the sutras. His notes and clarification are straightforward and highly readable, untainted by obscure, academic terminology or New Age jargon. The first edition of the Yoga Sutra to present a Buddhist perspective, this paperback original will be welcomed by students and spiritual seekers alike.
Tibetan Heart Yoga DVD by Enlightenment Films
After 1,000 years of safe-keeping, the secrets of Tibetan Heart Yoga are finally revealed for the first time on DVD. Tibetan Heart Yoga works from the inside and outside to open the heart chakra. The practice combines physical asanas, including never before seen Tibetan poses, with compassion visualizations to create a more satisfying and powerful yoga experience.
"Today, an extraordinary reunion is happening for yoga," says James Connor, Director of the DVD. "Finally, yogis can learn the visualizations that were meant to accompany the physical yoga poses and take their practice to the next level."
The ancient art of yoga came to Tibet from its birthplace in India over a thousand years ago, preserving the wisdom side of yoga perfectly. Traditionally, in the Buddhist monasteries of Tibet, yoga practices are kept secret until monks finish their 23-years of study to earn their Geshe degree. Then the best are taken to a separate school where they are taught the highest yoga practices.
The hour of philosophical teachings and 30-minute daily asana practice on this DVD are led by senior students of Buddhist Master, Geshe Michael Roach, the first American ever to complete 23-years of study in a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and earn the prestigious title of Geshe. He then was granted these teachings. The DVD is based on the Tibetan Book of Yoga written by Geshe Michael who also explains the purpose of Tibetan Heart Yoga on the DVD.
Geshe Michael received special permission from his Lamas to share these teachings publically. His Tibetan Lamas consider it very auspicious for the world that so many millions of people have become interested in yoga. They feel that if people are interested in yoga, they should be reminded of the wisdom side of the yoga practice that came to Tibet from India over 1,000 years ago and gain the complete practice.
The DVD is being released by Enlightenment Films in association with the Yoga Studies Institute. Both organizations are dedicated to preserving and sharing authentic spiritual teachings to inspire and inform people on their spiritual journeys. A substantial portion of the income from the DVD will be donated to help preserve Sanskrit and Tibetan texts through the work of the Asian Classics Institute and to extend the lineage by translating and teaching these texts and asanas through the Yoga Studies Institute.
